Gospel Reflection – October 12, 2026

Jesus tells the crowds that their generation is evil; it seeks a sign but will not be given one. Their generation will be condemned because someone greater than Solomon is here, and greater preaching than Jonah’s is present.

This familiar Gospel asks us to reflect on how we view Jesus. Is he someone we look to, to perform miracles and prove God is real? Or is he someone who offers us a new way of living, which includes actual relationship with God? Jesus can perform wonderful signs and miracles in our lives, there is no doubt.

But he asks us to have better faith than that; faith that relies on him in difficult times and in the small moments, where we know he is present, despite a lack of signs or wonders. Our Lord reveals himself in small ways that help us grow more deeply in love with him, we only have to pay attention. Will you pay attention to Christ today?
