“Blessed are the clean of heart,
Matthew 5:8
for they will see God.”
Reflection
Jesus preaches the Beatitudes in today’s Gospel. He declares that the poor of spirit are blessed, the clean of heart will see God, the merciful will be shown mercy, and more.
We are called to embody these traits in our daily lives. We must strive to be meek, merciful, clean of heart, poor in spirit, and thirst for righteousness. While the world might view this as weakness, we know that a humble spirit actually shows strength.
The Lord dwells in the quiet of our hearts, where virtue and love abide. As we learn to cultivate a life based on Jesus’ beatitudes, we grow in relationship with Christ and come to know him better. How can you practice one of the Beatitudes today?
