Gospel Reflection – May 14, 2026

We hear Jesus tell his disciples to remain in his love by keeping his commandments. Their joy will be complete in him because they are his friends. Jesus chose them to go and bear fruit that will remain; therefore, they must love one another.

Jesus tells us he loves us many times in this Gospel. If you ever doubt God’s love for you, reflect upon this passage. We are Christ’s friends, and he chose us. There can be no doubt that Jesus truly loves us.

And yet, there is a condition – we must follow his commandments, namely, to love one another. Of course, he loves us regardless – he loved us into existence. But a deeper can be achieved on our end by living out his commandments. In doing so, we learn to love ourselves better and Christ. Our friend and Savior, Jesus, is always there to help us do this, and in turn, we realize how much he truly loves us – infinitely!

How is Christ calling you to remain in him? How is he calling you to love others better? Jesus desires to spend eternity with you, what a beautiful love.

Saint of the Day

St. Matthias

“You, Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which one of these two you have chosen to take the place in this apostolic ministry from which Judas turned away to go to his own place.” Then they gave lots to them, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was counted with the Eleven Apostles.

Acts of the Apostles 1:24-26
