“But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go.
John 16:7
For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you.”
Reflection
Jesus tells his disciples it is better that he goes away to his Father, for then he can send the Advocate to them. If he does not go, then he would not be able to send the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes, he will convict the world in regard to sin, righteousness, and condemnation.
Again, we hear the importance of the Holy Spirit. He came into the world not only because Jesus sent him, but also in order to reveal more closely how sin affects us. The Holy Spirit can enlighten us regarding our own sin and also the sin of the world.
When we are repentant of our sins and wish to truly effect a change within ourselves, we can call upon the Holy Spirit to assist us. He can reveal the root of our sin and help us rid ourselves of it. Jesus has given us this great helper so we can grow in holiness and join him in heaven one day. Will you listen to the Holy Spirit in your life?
