Gospel Reflection – May 11, 2026

Jesus tells his disciples that the Holy Spirit will come and testify to him. He tells them this so they don’t fall away later when they are persecuted and killed.

Jesus does not want us to fall away from him. In times of suffering, persecution, difficulty, and general hardship, we can easily find ourselves falling away from Christ in some manner. God wants us to stay by him always, even in those trying times.

We receive daily reassurance from Jesus that he is with us, through the Holy Spirit. When we are tempted to ‘fall away’ from our Lord, remember that only Christ can help us persevere through trials and give us true courage and strength. Let the Holy Spirit uphold you in your daily struggles, and give thanks to God for this great gift.
