Gospel Reflection – May 10, 2026

Jesus tells his disciples he will give them an Advocate to be with them always, the Holy Spirit. The world will not accept him because it doesn’t see or know him, but the disciples will know the Holy Spirit because he will remain in them. Whoever observes Jesus’ commandments loves Christ.

Do we call upon the Holy Spirit often? Jesus has left us with the Advocate, the one who guides us in daily life and is ever present. If we are confirmed, we are especially filled with the Holy Spirit, who has many gifts to shower upon us if we only ask.

It can be easy to focus on Jesus or God the Father and forget about the Holy Spirit, yet it is the third person of the Trinity who dwells in us. We are not orphans, as Jesus told his disciples. We have the Holy Spirit within us, bringing us closer to sanctity and heaven. Reflect on how you can develop your relationship with the Holy Spirit today.

“Be not afraid then in your solitary conversations, to tell Him of your miseries, your fears, your worries, of those who are dear to you, of your projects, and of your hopes. Do so with confidence and with an open heart.”
