“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.”
John 14:27
Reflection
Jesus gives his peace to his disciples. He tells them to not be troubled or afraid, for even though the ruler of the world is coming, he has no power over Christ. The world needs to know Jesus loves his Father and does as he has been commanded.
Jesus gives us a peace the world does not understand. That peace can come in some part here on earth, but mostly in heaven, where it will be complete. The peace Christ gives is spiritual peace and comfort. He gives us the peace and hope of eternal life.
If our hearts are troubled, we can ask for Christ’s peace to renew and strengthen us. Peace in our hearts does not mean a non-hectic life or freedom from struggles, but rather hope and joy in our life to come. How does Christ bring peace in your life?

St. Hilary of Arles: ca. AD 401 – 449
| “We are all equal in Jesus Christ; and the highest degree of our nobility is to be of the number of the true servants of God. Neither science, nor birth, according to this world, can exalt us, but in proportion to our contempt of them.” St. Hilary of Arles, pray for us! |
