Gospel Reflection – April 30, 2026

Jesus washes his disciples’ feet and tells them that no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him. For whoever receives the one he sends receives Jesus, and whoever receives Jesus receives the one who sent him.

We are not greater than God. As disciples of Christ, he sends us out to preach his word. As messengers, we relay the Gospel and show how Jesus has impacted our lives. In doing this, we are still only messengers, sharing our faith. Yet, we are not alone in this endeavor.

The Holy Spirit accompanies us and inspires us. He is the gentle, guiding force that allows us to be effective messengers for Christ. When we rely on God and not ourselves, remembering that he can grace us with the right words and actions to evangelize, we do not need to worry but can lean into our Lord and let him speak through us. How is Christ calling you to be a messenger for him?

Saint of the Day

St. Pius V: 1504 – 1572

“Let him subject his own judgement to the will of God, who provides better for our interests that we can even desire ourselves.”

Pope St. Pius V
