Gospel Reflection – April 27, 2026

Jesus calls himself the good shepherd. He lays down his life for his sheep of his own accord. A hired man does not care for the sheep because he works for pay, but Jesus knows his sheep and takes care of them.

Jesus knows each of his sheep, us. We know him as well. Even if his voice is not always obvious to us, he truly is guiding us to himself in small but significant ways. Sometimes we listen to other “shepherds” in our lives, people who lead us astray. Perhaps it is done intentionally or not, but the outcome is the same – we end up further from Christ.

At those moments, we must once again listen for the voice of our Good Shepherd, Jesus. He is always there to get us back on the path to heaven. He is our strength and wisdom. How is the Good Shepherd calling you to himself today?
