“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved;
Mark 16:16
whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
Mark 16:15-20
Reflection
Jesus tells the Eleven to go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to everyone. All who are baptized and believe will be saved, but those who are not will be condemned.
Jesus’ words sound quite harsh when it comes to salvation – those who are baptized and believe in him will be saved. Those who don’t are condemned. Such a hard line might seem harsh, but our souls and eternity are at stake.
Where we go after we die is no joke. It is not something to be taken lightly, waiting until the last minute to believe in Christ or be baptized. It is a serious matter, and to ensure we come to rest in our Father’s arms, we must listen to what Jesus commands.
As disciples of Christ, we too must go into the world and proclaim the Gospel for the salvation of souls. Educating people about Jesus and his saving power can perhaps aid in their journey to heaven. How is Christ calling you to proclaim the Good News and also believe in him with a strong faith?
