Gospel Reflection – October 2, 2026

The disciples ask Jesus who the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven is. He places a child before them and tells them they must become like children in order to enter the Kingdom of heaven; their angels in heaven are always looking upon the face of his heavenly Father.

Today we celebrate the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels. Each of us has a guardian angel assigned to us, an angel that looks over us our entire lives. They are always present, pushing us to make the right decision, practice virtue, and grow close to God. It can be easy to forget we have a guardian angel, for we do not see them.

But in those moments when you look one more time before turning onto a road, or feel compelled to help out a person at the store, or remember where you put your keys – perhaps it is your guardian angel sending a helping and inspiring message. Although we cannot see the spiritual side of the world, we can feel its impact, especially from our guardian angels. They want to help us get to heaven, let’s let them!

Saint of the Day

Holy Guardian Angels

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here,
ever this day, be at my side, to light and guard, rule and guide. Amen.

Holy Guardian Angels, pray for us!
