Reflection

Jesus teaches in Capernaum and everyone is astounded. He then drives out a demon from a man, and the people wonder where he gets his authority and power from.

The people who witness Jesus exorcise a demon ask themselves a good question – what is there about Jesus’ word? He commands demons to flee, heals sick individuals, and does much more. Christ’s words are powerful. When he speaks, we must listen, for contained in his speech is wisdom, truth, and beauty.

Our Lord speaks into our individual hearts each day, revealing his deep love for us. Do you listen to him or ignore him? If we begin to listen to Christ’s voice, we not only grow to love him more, but we understand the plan he has for our lives. Taking time to sit in prayer and simply listen is something we can all improve upon – how can you start today?
