Gospel Reflection – July 26, 2026

Jesus compares the kingdom of heaven to treasure buried in a field and a precious pearl, both of which are acquired when a person sells all they have to obtain their treasure. He also compares it to a net that catches all different types of fish, and once on land, the good fish are collected and the bad thrown away.

The kingdom of heaven, being united with God for eternity, is something we should all strive for. The kingdom of heaven is so precious that a person would sell all they have to obtain it. For us, this might mean getting rid of worldly possessions or giving our entire lives to Christ in a radical way. When we give ourselves to Jesus fully, in our individual vocations, we come to know and love God better.

How is Christ calling you to find the treasure he has in store for you in this life and the next?

Saint of the Day

Sts. Joachim and Anne: ca. 1st century AD

Saints Joachim and Anne were the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary. While almost nothing is known about them besides apocryphal accounts, we can imagine that Mary had wonderful role models to instill in her faith and love of God.

Saints Joachim and Anne, pray for us!
