Reflection

Jesus instructs his disciples to go out and proclaim that the Kingdom of heaven is at hand. He tells them to not take anything with them, but stay in the houses of worthy people and let their peace reside. If people do not listen to their words, they should shake the dust of that town from their feet.

Once again, Jesus commands his disciples to go out and evangelize. This is no small task – cleansing lepers, driving out demons. These acts require the help of God, and cannot be done by mere human power. We, too, can do great things if we call upon the authority and power of God.

It is a good practice to ask for the grace to accomplish a particular task. In the context of evangelizing or doing God’s work, we can ask the Holy Spirit to guide our actions and words, especially in a difficult situation. That extra holy help can make all the difference. If we attempt to live without calling upon our Lord for assistance, much of what we do falls short. Reflect on how you can use the gifts God has given you to spread his Gospel message with the grace of the Holy Spirit today.
