“Enter through the narrow gate;
Matthew 7:13
for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction.”
Reflection
Jesus tells his disciples to treat others with respect. They also must enter through the narrow gate, for the gate is wide that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
The road to sin is easy to take. It appears to be pleasurable and easy, a life filled with gratification, happiness, and supposed purpose. Yet those who travel down that path often find it less than fulfilling. Jesus wants us to take the narrow path, which is full of challenges and discomfort, yet leads to eternal joy and heaven.
We all sin, but are able to come back to God with the sacrament of Confession. Jesus wants to be in union with us in this life and the next. Will you give up the wide road and instead travel the narrow one?
