“Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?”
Matthew 6:27
Reflection
Jesus tells his disciples that no one can serve two masters. Therefore, they should not worry too much in life, for the Father feeds the birds in the sky and lets the wild flowers grow. If God does these things, he will provide so much more for his people. He continues on that they should seek the Kingdom of God and not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself.
Everyone knows someone who is considered a ‘worrywart.’ They worry constantly about various things, perhaps too much. Yet in our own lives, there is always something we worry about too much as well. Jesus tells us to not do so, but rather focus on God, for worrying does nothing.
It can be hard not to be anxious or worried, but if we place our trust in Jesus alone, these feelings can subside over time as we learn that God is always faithful and looks out for us. Jesus loves us infinitely and cares for us every day of our lives, whether we feel his presence or not. He is constantly guiding us to purity and holiness, sanctifying us by our struggles.
If you are given to excessive worrying, give those troubles to God today. Ask him to show you the path of peace and to help you increase your trust of him. Placing your faith and trust in our Lord never fails, for he always provides in his perfect way.
