“Settle with your opponent quickly while on the way to court with him.”
Matthew 5:25
Reflection
Jesus tells his disciples their righteousness must surpass that of the scribes and Pharisees in order to enter the Kingdom of heaven. He also says they must reconcile with their brother before bringing a gift to the altar, and settle with an opponent before arriving at court.
God calls us to forgiveness constantly. Not only asking forgiveness from him, but forgiving others who have wronged us. We should be looking to reconcile with people and forgive them, especially before we die. If we live in a state of holding grudges or not being forgiven by others, our hearts harden.
Jesus instructs us to settle with our opponents quickly, and reconcile with our brothers. Christ himself is full of forgiveness and peace; he desires the same for us. When we approach any relationship with the eyes of Jesus, looking with compassion and love upon others, it becomes easier to ask for forgiveness and to forgive. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you love deeply and forgive easily.

| The news about them reached the ears of the Church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to go to Antioch. When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain faithful to the Lord in firmness of heart, for he was a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and faith.
