“What concern is it of yours?
JOhn 21:22
You follow me.”
Reflection
Peter asks Jesus about John the beloved disciple after their previous exchange, and Jesus simply asks of what concern it is to Peter, he must simply follow Jesus. John ends his gospel by saying that Jesus did many other works, but if he described them all, the whole world could not contain the books.
Peter questions what John’s mission and purpose is, but Jesus instructs him to not think about the other disciples, but simply follow Jesus. We must do this too, when we question how God is working in someone else’s life or why he is leading them down a certain path. It is necessary to simply follow the Lord’s call in our own lives and not worry about other people.
Jesus has a special mission for each of us, and if we spend time focusing on how other people are living out their mission, we miss out on living our own. If we stick to following Christ and listening to his voice, we can become holier and experience great peace and joy. How is Jesus calling you to focus on and follow him?
