Gospel Reflection – May 7, 2026

Jesus tells his disciples to remain in his love, for as the Father loves him, so Jesus loves them. If they keep his commandments, they will remain in his love. He tells them this so his joy might be in them and their joy might be complete.

Jesus gives us true joy. He tells his disciples that with his joy in them, their joy is complete. True joy, true peace, is not found elsewhere in this world. It doesn’t come from success at work, wealth, or even our families. While some amount of joy can be obtained from these things, only Christ fulfills it.

Jesus completes our joy. When we do become joyful, we can offer that joy to Christ, and he can complete it, which is something we can’t do on our own. Experiencing joy is a beautiful thing, and with Jesus by our side, it is heavenly.

“I feel so nailed to the will of God that nothing else matters, neither death nor life. I want what He wants. I want to serve Him as much as pleases Him and no more.”
