But he said to them, “It is I. Do not be afraid.”
JOhn 6:20
Reflection
The disciples cross the sea to Capernaum. It is dark and windy outside, and they suddenly see Jesus walking on the water towards them. They become afraid, but Jesus comforts them, and they immediately arrive at the shore.
The disciples are frightened when they first see Jesus walking towards them on the water, but at their recognition of him, they cease to be. Sometimes we can also be frightened of the unknown, but Christ comes to us and tells us to not be afraid.
He is always there to help us navigate a new situation, in all walks of life. Knowing that Jesus is by our side can make such circumstances easier to handle and give us a new perspective on how God works. Do you rely on Christ when you are afraid, or do you give in to fear? Let Christ guide you and take your fears away.
