Jesus tells his disciples that a good tree does not bear rotten fruit, nor a rotten tree bear good fruit. In the same way, an evil person produces evil, while a good person produces good. He also tells them if they listen to his words and act on them, they are like a person who builds a house on rock, and when the floods come, the house is not destroyed.

Are you a good tree or a rotten tree? Do you consider yourself a good person or an evil person? Most of us would answer that we are good, not rotten or evil. Yet it pays to closely examine our lives and see the fruit we leave behind. Is there peace or chaos, virtue or vice that are consequences of our actions?

Once we begin to understand our hearts, we can adjust to become holier and truly follow Christ. Ask the Holy Spirit to help reveal to you what you can work on to better love God and grow closer to him. Jesus wants us to be good trees that bear bountiful and beautiful fruit.
