Gospel Reflection – September 7, 2026

Jesus is teaching in a synagogue where a man with a withered hand is present. The Pharisees want to see if Jesus will heal on the sabbath, but Jesus knows their intentions and asks the man to come forward. He then asks everyone present if it is better to do good on the sabbath rather than evil. Jesus then heals the man’s hand, but the Pharisees become enraged.

The Pharisees are so blinded that they cannot fathom what Jesus is proposing – doing good on the sabbath. They are concerned with the law, and can’t see that Jesus is doing something beautiful. Once again, Jesus is showing his power over the law – not destroying it, but completing it and showing us that there is more.

We should always look for the beauty Jesus proposes and brings into our lives. He heals us, steers us in the right direction, and shows us his great love. Let the Lord heal you today in the way you need to be.

Saint of the Day

Blessed Frédéric Ozanam: 1813 – 1853

“The best way to economize time, is to ‘lose’ half-an-hour each day, attending Holy Mass.”

Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, pray for us!
