Reflection
Jesus tells his disciples he will suffer greatly and eventually be killed. At this, Peter declares that this will never happen to Jesus, but Jesus rebukes him and tells Peter he is thinking as humans do, not as God does. He then says that anyone who wishes to come after him must take up his cross and will lose his life.
Often, we are confused by God and his plans for us. This is because we think as humans, not as God. He knows all and has greater wisdom than we will ever possess. Because of this, we do not always understand him.
We should always pray for an increase in wisdom. In doing so, we can learn more about how God operates, his divine will, and what his plan for our life is. We can turn from wanting our desires to be fulfilled, to wanting God’s desires for us to be fulfilled. Human wisdom is nothing compared to God’s, and he wants to share it with you, if you are willing. How can you increase in wisdom today?
