Gospel Reflection – August 20, 2026

Jesus tells a parable about the Kingdom of heaven, where a man invites many to his son’s wedding feast. The invited guests do not come and kill the king’s messenger. The king becomes angry and invites people from the streets to attend the banquet instead.

We are called to respond to God’s call. He invites us with open arms, but it is up to us to respond accordingly. We can choose to reject or accept Christ. He wants us to accept him, but does not impose on our free will.

The wedding feast of heaven will fulfill our deepest desires and complete us, for we will be united with God. Let us always choose Christ, especially in the small moments of life, keeping him at the center of all we do.

Saint of the Day

St. Bernard of Clairvaux: 1090 – 1153

“Love seeks no cause beyond itself and no fruit; it is its own fruit, its own enjoyment. I love because I love; I love in order that I may love.”

St. Bernard of Clairvaux
