Gospel Reflection – August 15, 2026

Today is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Gospel recalls Mary’s journey to her cousin Elizabeth, where there, John the Baptist leaps in Elizabeth’s womb, and Mary herself praises God in her Magnificat.

We specially honor Mary as the Mother of God. She was granted many graces during her earthly life, but also for her heavenly one, for her body was assumed into heaven. In heaven, Mary continues to praise and pray to God. She intercedes for us, and truly shows the strength of God.

She bring us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ, and loves us dearly. Reflect on your relationship with Mary – how is Jesus calling you to love his mother more?

Saint of the Day

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

“We pronounce, declare and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma that the immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul to heavenly glory.”
