“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
Matthew 11:28
and I will give you rest.”
Reflection
Jesus says he will give rest to those who labor and are burdened. He instructs the people to take his yoke, for it is easy and his burden light.
A Gospel we have heard recently, it is worth reflecting upon again. Jesus invites us lovingly to give him our burdens. Sometimes we tell ourselves we are giving God our worries, sufferings, and burdens, but in reality, we continue to shoulder some of them on our own, thinking we are strong enough.
We all need grace from God. We are not meant to keep everything to ourselves, wallowing in despair and pity. Jesus offers us the perfect opportunity to give away the things that trouble us and instead place his yoke upon our back, which is lighter and will bring us to greater holiness. Will you truly rest today and lay your burdens on Christ?

Our Lady of Mount Carmel
| “Receive, my beloved son, this scapular of thy Order; it is the special sign of my favor, which I have obtained for thee and for thy children of Mount Carmel. He who dies clothed with this habit shall be preserved from eternal fire. It is the badge of salvation, a shield in time of danger, and a pledge of special peace and protection.” Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Simon Stock |
