Jesus began to reproach the towns

since they had not repented.
Reflection
Jesus reproaches the towns where he has performed various miracles because they have not yet repented. He tells them that even wicked cities like Sodom would have repented; in fact, it will be more tolerable for Sodom on the day of judgment.
Despite Jesus’ great works and miracles, some of the towns he frequented refused to repent of their sinful ways. Even though they literally saw miracles, their hearts were hardened against the Lord. Are we the same? Do we witness the presence of Christ in our lives and turn away from him?
When a miracle occurs in our lives, do we use it as an opportunity to grow in trust and faith of God, and repent of our own sinfulness? Sometimes we do, and at other times, we continue on our way, not changing our behavior or attitude to conform to Christ’s. Jesus wants us to repent daily, to turn back to him. He is constantly showing his presence to you, and desires your love, trust, and repentance – will you give it to him?
