As Jesus was teaching in the temple area he said,
Mark 12:35
“How do the scribes claim that the Christ is the son of David?”
Reflection
Jesus teaches in the temple area, asking how the scribes claim that the Christ is the son of David. He quotes Scripture, where David calls himself ‘lord’ but also calls the Christ ‘Lord’ as well. The crowds listens to Jesus with delight.
Jesus is explaining that the one who comes after David, his ‘son,’ is indeed greater than David himself, because the Messiah is Jesus, who is God! Jesus once again makes a claim to his kingship. Jesus is not shy about proclaiming his divinity; he wants us to know that he is Lord.
Jesus is Lord not only over all, but Lord of our lives, too. He beckons us to listen to him and follow his will. His love for us declares the supremacy he wants to have in our daily lives, showing us that when we trust in him, we become filled with a true peace and joy. Rejoice in the Lord today, for he desires to show you the beauty of a life centered on God.

| “In her voyage across the ocean of this world, the Church is like a great ship being pounded by the waves of life’s different stresses. Our duty is not to abandon ship but to keep her on her course.” St. Boniface |
