Mary and Joseph took Jesus up to Jerusalem
Luke 2:22
to present him to the Lord.
Reflection
Today we celebrate the feast of the Presentation of the Lord. Jesus is presented in the temple according to Jewish custom, and Mary receives the famous prophesy from Simeon that her child is destined for the rise and fall of many, with a sword piercing her own heart.
Just as Joseph and Mary presented Jesus in the temple, today they present their Son to you personally. They offer us the most perfect gift, God himself. The Holy Family desires to provide us with an example of how to love God and grow in holiness. Mary and Joseph invite us into their hearts, thereby revealing their Son.
Each day we have the opportunity to welcome Christ into our hearts. If we need assistance to do so, calling upon his parents is a good place to start. They will show you the way to Jesus gently and lovingly. How is Christ being presented to you in a unique way today?
