Gospel Reflection – December 11, 2025

Jesus tells the crowds that no one who has been born is greater than John the Baptist, yet the least person in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Jesus says whoever has ears ought to hear.

John the Baptist is considered the greatest of the Old Testament prophets, yet Jesus says that with the new covenant, the least person is greater than him. We belong to the new covenant, Jesus Christ. He tells us that we must hear, listen, and act upon his words. We have ears, therefore we ought to hear what is being told to us by our Lord.

If we stand by and do nothing with regard to our faith, we are not helping ourselves on our journey to heaven. Simply listening but not acting does not help us grow in virtue or holiness. Do you truly take to heart what Christ is telling you? How will you act upon his words today?
