Some in the crowd who heard these words of Jesus said,
john 7:40-41
“This is truly the Prophet.”
Others said, “This is the Christ.”
John 7:40-53
Reflection
Some people who heard Jesus speaking thought he was the Prophet, others the Christ. But some didn’t believe the Christ would come from Galilee. The Pharisees question why the guards have not arrested Jesus yet, and chide them that they’ve also been deceived because they don’t know the law like the Pharisees do.
Some of the people did believe in Jesus, but no one took any actions, either for or against him. When we are faced with situations that require us to acknowledge or refuse Christ, pray we always choose to acknowledge and defend our Lord.
If we act like bystanders when someone insults Jesus or rejects him, we must speak out. How are we any better if we remain silent in regard to our faith? Reflect on how you can stand up for Christ in your daily life. How can you give testimony to your faith and defend it in adverse circumstances? The Holy Spirit will guide you and give you strength to do so when the time comes.

“A vain question deserves nothing but silence. So learn to be silent for a time; you will edify your brethren and silence will teach you to speak when the hour is come.”
