“Yet I did not come on my own,
john 7:28
but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true.”
John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30
Reflection
Jesus travels alone to the feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem. While there, some people question why he is speaking so openly and with authority. They say that when the Christ comes, they won’t know where he comes from, yet they know Jesus’ origins. Jesus tells them he did not come of his own accord, and that they do not know the one who sent him.
We know where Jesus is from, who sent him, and who he truly is. Yet despite that, we still choose to deny those facts at times and not follow the Lord. We don’t have the luxury of ignorance when it comes to Christ. He is revealed to us in our faith and has shown us the path to heaven.
He came to guide us down that path, teaching us and revealing the Father to us. Let us not be like the people in Jerusalem who did not know the Father because they didn’t believe in Jesus. Instead, let us fully embrace Jesus as the Christ, trusting and believing in him.
