Gospel Reflection – March 4, 2025

Jesus says that no one who has left everything behind for the sake of him and the gospel will remain unrewarded in this life, at least in part, and in heaven.

When we leave everything we have – family, wealth, jobs, home – for Jesus’ sake, he promises rich reward in eternity. Even in this life, things will come to you or occur in abundance that are unexpected.

We are all called to leave behind certain things, places, or people in our lives for Jesus’ sake. Of course, we also have particular responsibilities, and the Lord wants us to be responsible people. But when we detach ourselves from things, such as money, and give that to him, we can find ourselves being rewarded in unexpected and fulfilling ways.

When we are generous for the Lord’s sake, giving up certain comforts for him, our faith in Christ is recognized and rewarded accordingly – perhaps not entirely in this life, but in the one to come. How can you practice letting go and giving all to Jesus? Pray for the grace to be able to do so.

Saint of the Day

St. Casimir: 1461 – 1484

Daily, daily sing to Mary; Sing, my soul, her praises due. All her glorious actions cherish, With the heart’s devotion true. Lost in wond’ring contemplation, Be her majesty confessed! Call her Mother, call her Virgin, Happy Mother, Virgin blest!

Daily, Daily Sing to Mary Verse 1, Latin hymn – known as St. Casimir’s hymn because of his love for the hymn
