“A good person out of the store of goodness in his heart produces good,
luke 6:45
but an evil person out of a store of evil produces evil;
for from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.”
Luke 6:39-45
Reflection
Jesus gives various parables to his disciples: being hypocritical about one’s own faults, bearing good/rotten fruit, no disciple being superior to their teacher, etc.
Jesus says that from the goodness of someone’s heart, good will be produced, and vice versa with evil. We must take care to produce goodness – good fruit – in our lives. If internally we toy with evil, evil will in some form be produced – it will be rotten fruit.
Let us take care in frequently examining our hearts – are we living out Christ’s teachings and genuinely attempting to do good and pursue the good in our lives? If not, how can we get to such a point? Ask the Lord to surround you with his love and lead you down a path to him. Trust in Jesus and ask for assistance in living out your Catholic faith.
Saint of the Day
St. Angela of the Cross: 1846 – 1932
“The nothing keeps silent, the nothing does not want to be, the nothing suffers all…. The nothing does not impose itself, the nothing does not command with authority, and finally, the nothing in the creature is practical humility.”
St. Angela of the Cross
