Gospel Reflection – April 10, 2026

Jesus reveals himself once again to the disciples, this time while they are out fishing. They do not catch anything at night, but when Jesus appears, although they do not recognize him at first, he tells them to cast their net on the right side of the boat. They do, and catch many fish. Simon Peter realizes it is Jesus, and they all eat breakfast with him afterwards.

Simon Peter and the other disciples go back to their old way of life, fishing. While doing so, they don’t recognize Jesus at first, even though it is a similar scenario to the first time Peter was called to follow Christ. Jesus calls his disciples back to himself once again, helping them turn from their old way of life to their new one, which is lived and fulfilled in Christ.

Jesus also calls us to himself repeatedly, especially when we turn away from him and resume our former way of life. For many of us, this does and didn’t always include Christ, at least in the way he is supposed to be incorporated into our lives. We find new life in our Lord, for he revitalizes our spirit and fills us with his grace. Ask the Holy Spirit to provide you with the fortitude and courage to follow the Lord all the days of your life.
