“You will look for me, and as I told the Jews,
John 13:33
‘Where I go you cannot come,’ so now I say it to you.”
Reflection
Jesus tells his disciples that one of them will betray him. John asks who it is and discovers it will be Judas. Judas leaves and Jesus tells the remaining disciples that they will look for him but be unable to follow him until later. At this, Peter says he will lay down his life for Jesus, but is told he will deny him three times.
Our hope lies in the Lord. We cannot be with Jesus in heaven yet, but someday we hope to be. As he told the disciples, where he is going we cannot come, until a later time. We never know when our time on earth is at an end. This is why we must always center our lives on Christ and follow him.
We need to place our trust and hope in God, leading lives of holiness and righteousness. As we journey towards heaven, let us always be repentant and keep our own death in mind, knowing that we will meet Jesus face to face.
