Gospel Reflection – March 28, 2026

The Sanhedrin is convened to discuss what to do with Jesus. They are worried the Romans will take their land away because of the many signs Jesus has performed, but Caiaphas prophesies that one man, Jesus, will die so that the whole nation doesn’t perish. Because of all this, Jesus remains outside Jerusalem with his disciples.

The Pharisees are concerned that everyone will come to believe in Jesus if they don’t do something about the situation. This shows that at some level, they acknowledge and understand who Jesus is, that his works and words point to God himself. Their attempt to stop Jesus reveals their unwillingness to accept him as the Christ, even with all the evidence that he is the Messiah.

In today’s world, people still refuse to believe in Jesus. Despite evidence for his existence and his claim to divinity, there are those who refuse to acknowledge Jesus for who he is. As Christians, we can and should pray for all those people, that they come to know Christ and believe in him. God wants everyone to know his Son personally, for he loves each of us infinitely. How can you pray in a special way for those who do not know Christ?

“Beloved sisters, the dowry that Christ Jesus wants to find in each one of you is that you be valiant in battle, that is, strong and steadfast in the fight.”
