Gospel Reflection – March 23, 2026

While Jesus is teaching in the temple area, the Pharisees bring a woman who was caught in adultery to him. They question him regarding the law, and Jesus tells them that the one without sin can be the first to stone her. At this, everyone eventually walks away, and Jesus tells the woman to sin no more.

We are all full of sin. When we point out someone else’s sin, we should reflect interiorly at our own sinfulness first. The Pharisees catch a woman sinning and only have thoughts for her sin, yet do not regard their own. We cannot come after someone for their faults when we have our own.

We can pause and take time to truly reflect on how we act when witnessing other people sin. Do we condemn them, laugh at them, feel sorrow for them? Before doing any of those things, we must look interiorly and repent of our own sinfulness, for we are not perfect. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in repentance and becoming more perfect as Jesus wants us to do.
