Gospel Reflection – March 20, 2026

Jesus travels in secret to Jerusalem for the feast of Tabernacles. As he preaches in the temple there, he tells the crowds that although they know him and where he is from, he did not come on his own; rather, the one who sent him is true. The people try to arrest Jesus but are unable to do so.

Jesus’ hour had not yet come at this time, and so he was not arrested. Soon though, his Passion would take place. As we near the end of Lent, we can reflect on Jesus’ hour – how he fulfills his mission on earth, and what that means for each of us.

Christ came to personally save you. We might not think of that often, but it is true. He came to redeem you, at the cost of his own life. How can you journey with Jesus towards the end of this Lenten season, taking part in his suffering, and later his resurrection?

St. Salvator of Horta: 1520 – 1567

“I always think of myself as a sack full of straw; the sack is indifferent as to whether it lies in a stable or is brought into a magnificent room.”

St. Salvator
