“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased;
Matthew 17:
listen to him.”
Reflection
Today we read about the Transfiguration of Jesus. He brings Peter, James, and John up to a high mountain, and there they see Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. God tells the disciples that Jesus is his beloved Son, whom he is pleased with. After this, Jesus tells them not to let anyone know what has transpired.
God is well pleased with his Son, Jesus. God’s love for his Son is evident in this Gospel. Although they are the same being, the separate persons of the Holy Trinity have unique relationships with each other. Today we see how God is pleased with his Son.
How can we express this same sentiment towards Christ? Sometimes we might be frustrated with Jesus if prayers aren’t answered. Maybe we don’t feel a particular friendship with him one day. Do we try to be pleased with Christ, and remember the love he shows us? Jesus gives us graces each day, and shows us his love in unique ways, if only we pay attention. How can you grow in your relationship with Jesus today?
