Gospel Reflection – February 17, 2026

While in a boat, the disciples realize they forgot bread and only have one loaf. Jesus warns them to watch out for the leaven of the Pharisees and Herod. They are confused, and Jesus continues to ask if they do not remember how he multiplied the loaves, and how can it be that they are still confused by his actions.

Jesus asks his disciples if they have eyes but do not see, ears but do not hear. Sometimes we can be like the disciples, not using our faculties properly to see what Jesus is revealing to us right in front of us. Christ is present in our lives in every aspect, yet sometimes we fail to recognize him.

Perhaps our hearts are hardened by sin or we simply do not have the tools to see him. Yet we are each called to join our lives to the Lord’s and set ourselves in his presence daily. Reflect on where you can improve in recognizing the Lord’s presence, and ask the Holy Spirit for the grace to see with eyes of faith and listen attentively to Jesus in your life.

“I have chosen you to be my first Servants, and under this name you are to till my Son’s vineyard. Here, too, is the habit which you are to wear; its dark color will recall the pangs which I suffered on the day when I stood by the cross of my only Son.”

Blessed Virgin Mary to the Seven Founders
