“My heart is moved with pity for the crowd,
Mark 8:2
because they have been with me now for three days
and have nothing to eat.”
Reflection
Jesus is moved with pity for the crowd he has been teaching for three days. He asks his disciples how many loaves they have, and orders the crowd to sit down. He blesses the seven loaves and the disciples distribute the bread, where everyone has enough to eat and there are even leftovers.
Jesus desires to feed us spiritually and physically with himself. He does this through the Eucharist. Just as he didn’t want to send the crowd away hungry for fear they would collapse, he doesn’t want us to be deprived of himself. Christ wants to be united with us daily, and we only have to let him into our hearts for this to occur.
When we are able to receive the Eucharist or go to Adoration, we further our relationship with Christ and let him transform us. Let Jesus feed you spiritually, in the perfect way he has prepared for you. Today, be mindful of the ways our Lord is offering himself to you.
