[They] begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak;
Mark 6:56
and as many as touched it were healed.
Reflection
When Jesus and his disciples cross to the other side of the sea, people recognize him and bring the sick to him on mats. In any place Jesus enters, the sick beg to touch only a tassel on his cloak to be healed, and they are.
The many sick people who approached Jesus begged to only touch a tassel on his cloak. They wanted a small part of Christ and believed that through it, they would be healed. Those people must have had great faith in the Lord.
In the Church today, we have access to Christ in a special way – the Eucharist. Still technically small, we receive the entirety of Jesus in the Eucharist, not a part. In light of this, do we have the same faith as those who originally encountered Christ? Jesus gives of himself in a profound way, offering us healing and hope. Today, reflect on your faith and hope in the Lord. Where can it be improved?
