Gospel Reflection – February 5, 2026

Jesus sends out the Twelve Apostles two by two, telling them to take nothing with them except a walking stick. They go off and preach repentance, drive out demons, and cure many people.

Jesus sends his closest disciples on a mission – to evangelize and heal. How is Christ sending you out into the world? Each of us has a unique way in which we can evangelize and spread the Gospel to those we encounter. Some of us teach catechesis, go on mission trips, volunteer, or lead Bible studies. In whatever way Jesus calls you to spread his message, are you responding?

It can be scary to evangelize and be a disciple of Christ. We are not always met with pleasantries and can be persecuted for our beliefs and attempting to spread them. Yet we must persevere and reveal God’s love to everyone we encounter. Even if it is only with a smile or kind word, we can show the world that Jesus brings true peace and joy. How can you be a disciple of Christ today?

Saint of the Day

St. Agatha: ca. AD 230 – 251

St. Agatha is honored as an early virgin martyr for the Church. She was brutally tortured for her faith and eventually died. One year after she died, she was attributed to stopping a lava flow from Mt. Etna.

St. Agatha, pray for us!
