Gospel Reflection – February 4, 2026

Jesus travels to his hometown and teaches in the synagogue. Everyone is astonished and can’t believe his words or his deeds, and they are offended by Jesus. Jesus is amazed at their lack of faith, and can only cure a few people.

Do we truly have faith in Christ? Sometimes we are certain our faith is strong, and at other times when we are faced with difficulties, we realize our faith is lacking. Jesus challenges us today – will he be amazed at your personal lack of faith?

If so, we must work on building our faith and trust in the Lord. God knows where your soul and heart truly lie, and he beckons us to increase our trust in him daily. In times of struggle, turn to Christ, not away. Put yourself at the foot of the cross and abandon your worries to him, who will take away all worry. Jesus gives us everlasting peace and joy; we can believe this when we strengthen our faith daily.

Saint of the Day

St. Joseph of Leonessa: 1556 – 1612

“The one who loves contemplative life has a grave duty to come out into the world to preach, especially when the ideas of the world are very confused and iniquity abounds in the land. It would be wrong and against charity to hold on to that which has been founded on and given for the sake of charity.”

St. Joseph of Leonessa
