Gospel Reflection – January 26, 2026

Scribes accuse Jesus of driving out demons by the power of Satan. In response, Jesus tells them a parable about a kingdom being divided; therefore, it cannot stand. All sins and blasphemies will be forgiven except those blasphemies against the Holy Spirit.

A divided kingdom, a divided house, cannot stand, as Jesus states. When there is division, something must give and the structure will collapse. Everyone experiences division in some manner – how do you? Perhaps division exists in your workplace or your family. When it comes to a division caused by Christ, we must stand firm in our faith and stick with God.

Jesus is Truth and is always on the winning side, even if the world disagrees and you are persecuted on earth for standing by him. We are not made for this world, and so division and tribulation are expected. When trials come that test our faith, we can be assured that Christ is the ultimate victor, and staying faithful to him will bring us closer to being united for eternity.

So do not be ashamed of your testimony to our Lord, nor of me, a prisoner for his sake; but bear your share of hardship for the Gospel with the strength that comes from God.
