He said to them in reply,
Mark 6:37
“Give them some food yourselves.”
Reflection
Jesus preaches to a large crowd and when it is late, he asks the disciples to give them food. The disciples are only able to round up five loaves and two fish, but Jesus blesses the food and everyone is able to eat their fill; there are even leftovers.
The disciples originally tell Jesus to send the crowds away so they can find food themselves, but Jesus requests that the disciples give the people food. Even though there is barely food to be had, they still bring it to Jesus. In his goodness, Jesus miraculously multiples the little food and all eat their fill.
Jesus does much with the little we have. When we offer it to the Lord, he is able to multiply even the smallest of things. If we need assistance in some area, fearing that what we can give isn’t enough, we must approach Jesus with what we have and ask him to provide. Jesus does not disappoint when we approach him sincerely and humbly. What do you need Christ to multiply for you today?
