Gospel Reflection – January 3, 2026

John the Baptist sees Jesus and proclaims that he is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. John says that he has baptized with water so that Jesus can be made known to Israel.

Jesus is the Lamb of God. He took away the sin of the world through his death and resurrection. Jesus came to personally take away your sin, so that you have the chance to be united with him in heaven.

Do we squander this beautiful opportunity afforded us? The fact that our God came down to earth as a little baby, grew up, and died for us should amaze us daily. We need to reflect often on how much Christ loves us. We are still sinners, but he calls us to turn away from sin and pursue virtue and holiness. How can you begin to do this today?

Saint of the Day

Most Holy Name of Jesus

Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:9-11
