Gospel Reflection – December 28, 2025

Today is the feast of the Holy Family. The Gospel tells us how Joseph is told in a dream to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt to flee the wrath of Herod. Joseph follows the command and only returns to Israel when he receives another dream telling him it is safe to return.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph provide the perfect family model. Joseph is prompt to follow God’s will, and Mary and Jesus are ready to obey Joseph. Mary and Jesus emulated the virtue of obedience to the head of their house, Joseph. Joseph in turn was quick to listen to God’s will and follow it, even leaving his home to do so.

How can you learn from the Holy Family’s example? Ask the Lord for the grace to grow in obedience, faith, and trust. God will provide no matter the situation, and Joseph and Mary are always ready to help us when we ask for it.
