“In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father
Matthew 18:14
that one of these little ones be lost.”
Reflection
Jesus asks the disciples their opinion about a man going after one lost sheep. The man will leave his ninety-nine sheep to find the one that is lost; in the same way, their heavenly Father does not wish for any little one to be lost.
Jesus is the Good Shepherd, and when we wander off, getting lost in the world, he comes after us. He does not abandon us to the many dangers present in this life, but rather pursues us relentlessly. Christ does not wish to lose us.
This should be encouraging to us, for even if we have wandered very far from the Church and Jesus himself, he never stops coming after us. When we feel that we are too far gone or a situation is too hopeless, we can remember this passage and call upon Christ, asking him to shepherd us back into the flock. Jesus loves us so much that he died for us; of course he will come after you when you are lost. Thank our Lord for his great love and mercy today.
